history

The main building was probably built in the late 18th or early 19th century. A building is already recorded on the original measuring table from 1841, but this must have belonged to the estate of the Count of Solms-Baruth at that time , because: A forester's house was first mentioned in Zesch in 1891. Further development took place in the second half of the 19th century. Other modifications from the 20th century are also known. In 2006 and 2007, the chief forester renovated the buildings.

architecture

barn

The ensemble consists of the free-standing main building, a stable, a barn and a cellar. The main building was built from half-timbered houses, whose compartments are made of reddish bricks . It is based on a base made of field stones , which is visually separated from the rest of the building by a first layer of brick. The southern wall and the gable are made entirely of brick. In the basement there are two beehive-shaped windows set in the middle in the gable above. This shape was not included in the long sides due to the timber-framed construction. Here the windows are rectangular and simple. The corners of the building are emphasized by brick pilaster strips , as is the gable, which is decorated with a frieze . The simple gable roof is covered with black tiles. The forester's apartment was in the northern part, and his office in the southern part. Underneath was a comparatively large and elaborately crafted cellar with a barrel vault , which was probably built as early as the 16th or early 17th century. Experts assume that this cellar was also used for viticulture , which was practiced at that time on an area of around 12 hectares south of the village.

At a right angle to this building there is a farm building a few meters away. This was also built in half-timbered houses with brick infills. It is also single-storey and has a gable roof.
