The command support base FUB is an administrative unit of the Swiss Armed Forces . Together with other service providers, it ensures leadership support for the leadership skills of the armed forces and national crisis management. The aim of the FUB is to support the political and military leadership of Switzerland.

The FUB maintains information and communication technology (ICT), electronic warfare , electronic air surveillance with the help of radar , cryptology and language specialists, the command service and services in the area of the headquarters .

history

The transmission services were taken up in all branches of service after the Second World War , but there was no central command. Formally, the transmission belonged to the engineering troops .

For five years there was no central management until the then chief of arms for the engineering troops applied to the Federal Council to establish a new department for transmission troops (AUEM), as telecommunications had become more and more important. This new department was created on January 1, 1951, with a total of 28 civil servants.

In 1978 the AUEM employed a total of 300 people, including the professional officers . The militia comprised around 30,000 forwarders . A year later, in 1979, the AUEM was raised to the Federal Office for Transmission (BAUEM) due to a reorganization of the federal administration.

With the reorganization of EMD 95 , the BAUEM was integrated into the newly organized General Staff as a sub-group management support (UG FU) . The troops and the training area with the instructors were outsourced and the UG FU now had fewer than 150 employees.

In the course of planning the Army XXI , the head of the UG FU applied for comprehensive leadership support for the Federal Department of Defense, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS) to be created, which he was also granted. This enabled the FUB to be operationally activated on January 1, 2005 - it contained the same elements as the BAUEM at that time, excluding the teaching associations .

In order to strengthen the cyber defense area and ensure perseverance in terms of personnel, the first cyber course with militiamen from the Swiss armed forces started in summer 2018. As a pilot project, 18 recruits were trained at EKF School 64 in Jassbach.
