The Futebol Clube Derby ( FC Derby for short , also Derby FC ) is a Cape Verdean sports club from the city of Mindelo , on the island of São Vicente .
The club is particularly known for its football department, but also has departments in other sports, especially basketball, volleyball and handball.
history
The association was founded on August 5, 1929. For the first time the club became Cape Verdean football champions in 1984.
In 2000, FC Derby qualified for the 2001 CAF Champions League , but was eliminated there in the first round against Real Banjul .
Stadion
The professional football team of FC Derby plays its home games in the city's Estádio Municipal Adérito Sena . The stadium has an artificial turf pitch and can accommodate 5,000 spectators. Other Mindelo clubs also use the stadium, in addition to record champions CS Mindelense , Académica Mindelo , GD Amarantes and Batuque FC .
