FIAMM ( acronym for: F abbrica I taliana A ccumulatori M otocarri M ontecchio) is a multinational company that manufactures and sells batteries and accumulators for motor vehicles and industrial applications. FIAMM is also used as a brand name for goods that are manufactured or sold by companies currently or previously belonging to the group. FIAMM Energy Technology SpA has been majority owned by Hitachi Chemical since 2017 .

history

The company was founded in 1942 as the Italian vehicle battery factory in Montecchio Maggiore . In 1950, FIAMM exhibited at trade fairs together with automobile manufacturers and supplied batteries for large brands such as the scooter manufacturer Lambretta and Ferrari . In the 1970s, FIAMM became the original equipment manufacturer for European automobile manufacturers. From 1980 the company exported stationary batteries to the USA and presented itself as a sponsor in motorsport. In January 2017, the European Commission approved the merger of FIAMM with Hitachi Chemical.
