Lists on the subject |
The FN FNC (Fabrique Nationale Carabine) is a rifle from Fabrique Nationale Herstal that was developed in the 1970s to replace the partially defective FN CAL . It's a new development.
history
After the FN CAL had proven to be a commercial and partly also a technical failure in 1975, a new rifle was developed a year later. A newly presented prototype FNC 76 turned out to be still inadequate; often blocked the firing pin or the cartridge already lit before the shutter, the cartridge chamber has locked. So in 1982 a new weapon was presented, which was named FNC .
technology
The FNC is a gas pressure charger with a rotating head lock . The weapon shoots single fire , in three-shot bursts and continuous fire . A separate magazine was developed for the weapon, STANAG magazines (standard magazine for NATO weapons) can also be used.
So that no dirt gets into the weapon, there is no slide catch . In addition, the recess in the upper part of the housing for the retracting cocking slide is covered by a spring-loaded dust cover. This is pushed up by the retracting cocking slide and moves down again as it moves forward. The Ak 5 and Galil ACE use a similar mechanism for their dust covers.
