The MÁV III were freight train - tender - steam locomotives of the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV).

The first machines of this series were manufactured by Sigl in Wiener Neustadt , but the Budapest machine factory started production of these vehicles as early as 1874 . The locomotives were not yet Hungarian in terms of their dimensions and construction, but production in their own country heralded a new era in Hungarian railway history.

Various Hungarian private railways also had this series in the state. These included the Hungarian Western Railway (Magyar Nyugoti Vasút, MNyV), the Hungarian Eastern Railway (Magyar Keleti Vasút, MKV), the First Hungarian-Galician Railway (Első Magyar-Gácsoszági Vasút, EMGV), the Hungarian Northeast Railway (Magyar Eszakkeleti Vasút, MEKV) and the Arad - Temesvár railway . All locomotives in this series came to the Hungarian State Railways in the course of nationalization . In total, the MÁV then owned 152 units of these locomotives .

From 1911 they were designated with 335.001–152. One locomotive has been preserved. She had worn 3 numbers in her long life; first the 269, then the 2095 and finally the 335,095. In 1960 the locomotive was retired. After its reconstruction by the Landler railway workshop, it has been part of the MAV nostalgia vehicle park since 1985 .
