FS Canis Majoris (short FS CMa ) is a star of the spectral class B at a distance of about 2000  light years . It is the prototype of the FS Canis Majoris stars , which belong to the Eruptive Variable Stars .

Investigations of the spectrum in 2006 showed that FS Canis Majoris is probably a binary star system . The system is between 1250 and 8000 times brighter than the sun.
