Fabian Hinz

Fabian Hinz (* 1989 in Weiden ) is a German independent OSINT - Analyst or -Analytiker and weapons expert .

Career

After graduating from high school in 2008, Hinz studied political and Islamic studies in Freiburg and graduated with a bachelor's degree. In addition, he studied international relations at the Free University of Berlin , where he obtained a master's degree. During his studies, he also completed semesters abroad: in Isfahan, Iran and at the American University of Beirut .

After completing his studies in 2017, Hinz received a scholarship from the Mercator Kolleg for international assignments . During the 13-month program, he worked as a fellow at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS), which is part of the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Vermont , and at the Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNO) in Vienna . In doing so, he devoted himself to the practical issue he had chosen: the non-disclosure and non-distribution of ABC weapons and their delivery systems.

Since 2019, Hinz has been working as a research fellow at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey (California) .

He gained notoriety when he and colleagues discovered the trail of a secret rocket research facility hidden in the Iranian desert in the spring of 2018.

Subject of his investigations

In his analyzes, Hinz concentrates on the transfer of nuclear weapons or means for their production (rocket proliferation) in the greater Middle East , also known as the MENA region .

In connection with the mystery of the rocket and drone attacks on two of the most important Saudi Arabian oil plants (the country's largest oil refinery in Abkaik and the Khurais oil field) on September 14, 2019, Hinz stated in a SPIEGEL interview at the end of September: “You have clearly presented fake pictures ”.
