Fabien Mary

Fabien Mary (* 1978 ) is a French jazz trumpeter.

From the age of 8 Mary attended the Bernay Music School and studied from 1996 to 1998 at the Conservatory of Évreux and then that of Rouen , where he received prizes in chamber music and for trumpet and at the same time attended the jazz class of Rémi Bîet. In 1998 he moved to Paris, but kept in touch with the scene in Rouen - he played with the Euphonium Big Band and with Biet. In Paris he played in the band "Nuits Blanches" by Alexandre Tassel (in the Jazz Club Petit Opportun), in the Big Band of the CNSMDP under the direction of François Théberge , in the " Paris Jazz Big Band " by Pierre Bertrand and Nicolas Folmer , in the "Super Swing Machine" by Gérard Badini , the quintet by Xavier Richardeau , the big band by Michel Pastre and in their own bands. In 2000 he founded the "Vintage Orchestra" with Sophie Alour , Erick Poirier and Dominique Mandin , a big band of 16 musicians who follow the model of the Thad Jones / Mel Lewis Orchestra .

Mary played u. a. with David Liebman , Johnny Griffin , Preston Love , Diana Krall and Archie Shepp .

In 2003 he received the Django d'Or (France) as a new talent.
