Fabrizio Rottigni (born December 28, 1986 in Alzano Lombardo ) is an Italian grass skier . He has been a member of the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) squad since 2006 .

Career

Rottigni first took part in a junior world championship in July 2003 and achieved eleventh place in slalom and 13th place in combination as the best results. A week later he also took part in his first World Cup race in Forni di Sopra , but did not make it into the points. He took his first World Cup points on July 30, 2004 with rank 17 in the giant slalom of Forni di Sopra. In the overall standings he came in 34th place in the 2004 season . At the 2004 Junior World Championship his only result was 15th place in the Super-G; at the Junior World Championships in 2005 he achieved the best results in ninth place in slalom and eleventh place in combination. In the 2005 World Cup season, Rottigni came under the fastest 15 three times, improving to 21st place in the overall standings. In the 2006 season his best result by far was the fifth place in the slalom of Sattel on August 26th. With a further two placements among the fastest 20, he finished 21st overall, as in the previous year. At the Junior World Championship in 2006 , eleventh place in the giant slalom was his only result. Also in the 2007 World Cup season , Rottigni's best result was fifth place in the giant slalom in Sattel. In the two races of Dizin he was also among the top ten, with which he reached 18th place in the overall World Cup. At the 2007 World Cup in Olešnice v Orlických horách in the Czech Republic , his first in the general class, he never came in the top 30. In the 2008 World Cup season , the Italian was once among the top ten and three times among the top 15 He finished 21st in the final ranking.

In 2009 Rottigni only took part in four FIS races. Since the 2010 season he has started again in the World Cup and achieved tenth place in the giant slalom at the beginning in Čenkovice . After a few failures and disqualifications, he finished three times in the top 20 in the final races in September and was 36th in the overall World Cup. In the 2011 season, Rottigni was among the fastest 15 in two World Cup races. He finished 37th in the overall World Cup. At the 2011 World Cup in Goldingen , he achieved 13th place in the slalom and 17th place in the giant slalom and in the Super-G. He was eliminated in the super combination. Compared to the two previous years, Rottigni was able to improve significantly in the 2012 World Cup season . He was among the fastest 20 in nine of the twelve World Cup races and achieved a total of four eleventh places as the best results. In the overall World Cup he finished 19th, which is the second time since 2007 that he was among the top 20 in the overall ranking.
