fade is a Japanese rock band founded in 2002 in this combination . They call their style the “California Roll of Rock”, an allusion to their colorful mix. Two of the band members grew up in New York but are originally of Japanese descent, while the band's vocalist is American. They released their debut album in Japan .

history

Rui and Kansei, both Japanese who grew up in New York, began their musical careers in 1992. Noriyuki joined in 1994 and 5 ° (pronounced: Godo) in 1998. In the same year they played their first live in Tokyo, back then with norikyuki on vocals and another bass player.

In 1999 they changed their base from New York to Tokyo and finally in 2002 they were joined by Seattle- born Jon Underdown as the new singer who had originally come to Tokyo as an exchange student. In January of the following year they released their first album "fade". They still play in this combination today, whereby the different origins of the members resulted in the designation: Blue eyed Samurai x Black eyed Cowboys .

The second album was released in March 2005 under the name A Moment of Truth and was recorded in LA. The third ensued in August of the same year, entitled Under the Sun .

Two years later, the album To Find A Better Tomorrow was released , which was listed in the Japanese charts under Western music and not Japanese music . In 2009 the band performed at several festivals, including in Korea or with artists such as Limp Bizkit and Judas Priest . In the same year they also released their fifth album Age of Innocence .

2010 was the focus of performances. They played at some festivals again and toured Japan.

But they did not become known in the German fan scene until 2011 when singer Jon Underdown became the second singer of YELLOW FRIED CHICKENz , whose first singer was Gackt . In the same year fade released the album Kings of Dawn , which was also released in Germany by Gan-Shin at the end of 2011.

In 2012 there were again some tours, as well as the release of the album TEN ( ).

style

In contrast to many other Japanese rock bands, the music of fade is more oriented towards western hard rock . The western influences can be heard much more clearly. The texts alternate between Japanese and English.
