Victor Clube

Stace Victor Murray Clube (born October 22, 1934 in London ) is an English astrophysicist and astronomer .

Clube, who in his youth attended St John's School at Leatherhead and Christ Church College at the University of Oxford , was Dean of the Astrophysical Faculty of his alma mater and worked at the observatories in Edinburgh, Armagh and Cape Town.

He owes his fame mainly to his work on the theory of "coherent catastrophism", which he put forward together with Bill Napier and other colleagues. He is also an expert on comets and cosmology . Clube is also the author of numerous academic and popular science books and an excellent cricket player.

The asteroid (6523) Clube was named after him.
