The Fagerborg videregående skole ( German secondary school Fagerborg ) is a secondary school and grammar school in Fagerborg in the St. Hanshaugen district in Oslo . The school is located at the northern end of Sophus Bugges plass ( Sophus Bugges-Platz ) and is at Pilestredet 109 . The Abitur can be obtained at secondary school, but it is also intended to prepare students for studying at a university or technical college.
The school building was built from 1915 to 1916 according to the plans of the architect Harald Aars and has been used continuously for school operations ever since. The Fagerborg videregående skole is under monument protection and is under the number 85781 from the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage has been registered (Reich archivist) as a cultural monument.
The school also offers further education programs and study specializations in the field of science with a focus on physics, mathematics, biology and computer science, as well as in the categories: Society and social sciences, philosophy, social studies, media studies, economics, history and law, as well as several languages: including international English and business English, French, Spanish and German. In addition, theater, music, dance and drama are taught at a higher level. The school has its own extensive library. The pupils and students of the Fagerborg School appear every year since 1922 in a revue , the Fagerborgrevyen (Fageborg-Revue). The school's motto is: Engasjert og levende (Engaging and Living).
The learners also publish the school magazine "Spindelvæv", which has been published without interruption since the school was founded, making it one of the oldest Norwegian school magazines.
The last decision was made to close the Berg videregående skole and integrate it into the Fagerborg videregående skole or merge it into a school. In the meantime, the Sogn videregående skole premises at Sognsveien 80 will be shared with the merged school. The Berg videregående skole is to be reopened as a grammar school for the blind.
The golden spider
The golden spider ( German Den Gyldne Edderkopp ) was originally the symbol of the Fagerborg school society and later that of the Fagerborg videregående skole . The symbol is presented at a ceremony that begins with a hymn of praise for the Golden Spider . Those who have been found worthy by the chapter of the order, for example through appropriate service to society or to the school itself, can be made Knight of the Golden Spiders ( Riddere av den Gyldne Edderkopp ) by the commander or grand master at this ceremony at midnight . In addition, music by Richard Strauss ' with the pieces Also sprach Zarathustra (Strauss) and by Edvard Griegs with In der Halle des Bergkönig will be played. The ceremony itself remains a big secret.
Particularly deserving teachers and employees of the school and former students are honored, but very rarely still active students. A distinction is made between three levels: knight, commander and grand master (grand cross). Only deserving school directors are awarded the Grand Cross. Many of the best-known award winners were former students or teachers. B. later became known as a writer, actor and politician.
