Fagun (newspaper)

Fagun is a monthly print newspaper printed in Santali in the Ol-Chiki script. The newspaper was founded by Mangat Murmu in 2008 and is the only newspaper published in this language. The editor is Malati Murmu, who received the Telegraph Legend Award in 2016. The place of publication of Fagun is Bhubaneswar in the state of Odisha , the single edition costs 5 rupees . The newspaper had an initial print run of 500 and now has a print run of 5,000. It is read across the country, and readers can even be found on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands .

In addition to the news section and editorials , Fagun also publishes short stories and poems , there is a section for women and children in which, among other things, recipes are published, and a culture section with event announcements and reviews . The curriculum for college students is also published. The latter has the background that the government has been offering a curriculum in Santali at some universities in Odisha for some time.
