The driver standby is a position in organizations that provides other employees with a fleet of vehicles for the purpose of transporting people on a permanent basis through the use of drivers as part of the standby service .

General

As organizations are companies , authorities , other departments or the military into consideration. The demand for business trips there must be so great that it is worthwhile for these organizations to organize their own vehicle fleet as an alternative to ordering external service providers such as taxis or public transport . The capacity of the vehicle fleet and the number of staff in the driver's service must be dimensioned in such a way that a high degree of utilization is permanently guaranteed.

Organizational structure

From an organizational point of view , the driver standby is a service point without authority , a so-called function-free support point. As such, it is usually an organizational unit of facility management . Your staff can consist of your own employees , but they can also be recruited within the framework of temporary employment .

Well-known are the transport service of the German Bundestag , the BwFuhrparkService GmbH of the Bundeswehr , the readiness for flight of the Federal Ministry of Defense or the readiness for driving of the German Red Cross , whose task is to transport wheelchair users with special vehicles.
