Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah bin Faisal Al Saud ( Arabic فيصل بن فرحان بن عبد الله آل سعود, DMG Faiṣal b. Farḥān b. ʿAbd Allāh Āl Saʿūd ; * November 1, 1971 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a Saudi Arabian diplomat and politician and a member of the House of Saud . He has been Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since October 2019 .

biography

Prince Faisal was born in Frankfurt am Main and grew up there. His father worked for a bank in Frankfurt, his mother is German. He speaks fluent German, among other languages. Faisal bin Farhan studied in the United States. From 2001 to 2013 he was on the board of directors of Alsalam Aerospace Industries , a joint venture of Boeing . In 2003 he was a co-founder and director of Shamal Investment Co. until he became an advisor at the State Department and senior advisor to the Saudi embassy in Washington in 2017. Since May 2017, Faisal bin Farhan has also been on the board of the newly founded state armaments company Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI). On March 27, 2019, he became his country's ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany in Berlin, primarily to calm the irritations that had arisen in bilateral relations. His appointment was also viewed critically in Germany.

He was appointed foreign minister of his country by royal decree on October 23, 2019. Prince Faisal's predecessor in office was Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud .
