The Fallbach rises above the Gramartboden on the Hungerburg at 936 meters above sea level and flows south to St. Nikolaus , where it flows into the Inn . In the area of Riedgasse and Fallbachgasse, it runs underground with a canal. It is two kilometers long and lies entirely within the Innsbruck city limits.

The brook has water  quality class I and supplies two reservoirs with drinking water, which is collected and supplies the St. Nikolaus and Höhenstraße regions with water.

Due to the water withdrawal, the stream often carries little water in places.
