The Sudeten monkshood ( Aconitum plicatum ), also known as fold-fronted monkshood , is a species of the genus monkshood ( Aconitum ) within the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae).
description
The Sudeten monkshood grows as a perennial herbaceous plant and usually reaches heights of 30 to 150 (25 to 190) centimeters. The Sudeten monkshood has a non-spherical turnip as a persistence and storage organ. The stem is erect. The stem leaves have an indistinct network of veins on the underside.
The flowering period extends from July to September. The simple or slightly branched, racemose inflorescence is hairy. The bare prophylls the lowermost Endtraubenblüte are at a length of 1 to 2 (often up to 3) mm linear, triangular. The outside of the perigon and the flower stalks are scattered or densely covered with crooked trichomes , and the flower stalks may also be bare. The hermaphrodite flowers are zygomorphic . The tepals are colored blue to purple. The helmet, i.e. the top tepal, is usually wider than it is high. The nectar leaves can also be hairy or bare, the stamens only have dense and protruding trichomes in the upper part. There are two or three carpels . The seeds are black.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 32.
The Sudeten monkshood is very poisonous.
