Festivals

  • Festival Nacional de la Empanada (September). According to local self-assessment, the tastiest empanadas in Argentina are baked in Famaillá. To prove this, Famaillá invites every year in September to check this out at a folk festival with dance and music. A jury made up of local dignitaries, stars from the Argentine showbiz and a well-known folk artist will choose the best empanada baker of the year. The personal recipes for dough and filling are as secret as the Coca-Cola effervescent recipe. The empanadas are baked in clay ovens over root wood and eaten hot.
