The fantasy No. 4 in C minor , Köchelverzeichnis 475, is a piano piece by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart written on May 20, 1785 in Vienna . It was published as Opus 11 in December 1785 together with the piano sonata No. 14 KV 457 by the Viennese music publisher Artaria , which has always been one of Mozart's regular publishers. The piece begins in the key of C minor , in a calm Adagio . A short passage in D major changes the music to an Allegro , which ends in A minor , G minor and F major in F minor . The piece continues in an Andantino in B flat major , which quickly changes into a più allegro in G minor. Finally, the piece changes back to the original key of C minor over a few runs. The main theme is then repeated a few times until the piece ends in a forte .

Like many of Mozart's piano compositions, the piece is extremely demanding. The piece is also considered to be one of Mozart's most famous fantasies .

A librarian discovered the autograph of the fantasy in 1990 while dusting in Philadelphia. The manuscript came into the possession of the International Mozarteum Foundation via Sotheby's.
