Farshid Mesghali (born July 1943 in Isfahan ), Persian فرشید مثقالی, is an Iranian graphic artist and illustrator .

From 1960 he completed a degree in painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Tehran and then worked as a graphic designer and illustrator, for example for the magazine Negin from 1964 . Several picture books followed , including The Little Black Fish by Samad Behrangi , for which he received an award at the 1969 Children's Book Fair in Bologna .

From 1968 to 1970 he created picture books for the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young People . In this Institute he founded together with Arapic Baghdasarian a department for cartoons and from then created even some animated films. From 1970 to 1978, Mesghali was also head of the Institute's Fine Arts Department.

In 1974 he won the Hans Christian Andersen Prize as an illustrator for his picture books .

In 1979 he moved to Paris to make sculptures and paintings for four years , which were exhibited in the Sammy King Gallery . From 1986 to 1997 he lived in the United States and created digital works of art in his own studio (Desktop Studio in Los Angeles ). Since then he has lived in Tehran again .

In 2007 he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Council of Graphic Design Associations (Icograda).
