Erwald "Ewald" Weisemann (born December 19, 1887 in Remscheid , † October 16, 1963 there ) was a German educator and politician ( DNVP ).

Life

Ewald Weisemann was born the son of a factory owner. After attending secondary school, he studied German, English, philosophy, history, geography and economics at the universities in Erlangen and Halle . He received his doctorate as Dr. phil. , entered the Prussian school service and worked as a teacher at the Staatliches Realgymnasium in Remscheid from 1914. In addition, he was active in language and local history research. Weisemann did his military service from 1907 to 1908 as a one-year-old volunteer with the Royal Bavarian Infantry Regiment No. 19 , with whom he took part in the First World War from 1914 to 1918 as a company and battalion commander, after he had been promoted to lieutenant in the reserve in 1912 , most recently as captain of the reserve. He was wounded five times during the war.

After the November Revolution, Weisemann joined the DNVP and was elected chairman of the DNVP Remscheid in May 1919. He joined a volunteer corps and in 1920 became the commander of a temporary volunteer corps in Bergisches Land against the Red Army. He also worked in various national associations, such as the Pan-German Association and the Reichsflagge , which was incorporated into the steel helmet in 1927 . In addition, since 1920 he was chairman of the election committee for the Christian-apolitical list of parents 'councils in Remscheid (Evangelical Reich parents' association).

Weisemann was a city ​​councilor in Remscheid from May 1924 to 1933 and since 1925 a member of the board of the Rhenish City Council. From 1924 to 1933 he was a member of the Prussian state parliament .

His estate is in the historical center of the city of Remscheid .
