Fatou Tiyana

Fatou Tiyana (born February 24, 1987 in Banjul ) is a Gambian athlete. It starts in the sprint over 100 and 200 meters . At the beginning of her career, she also took part in long jump competitions, for which she has held the national record since 2005.

Tiyana won the gold medal in the long jump at the Solidarity Athletics Championships 2005 in Mauritania . In 2006 she won gold in the long jump and silver in the 100 and 200 meter run at the ZANOCA Games in Mali . At the Solidarity Athletics Championships 2007 in Guinea-Bissau , she won the gold medal in the 100 and 200 m as well as in the 4 x 100 m relay .

Tiyana took part in the Pan-African Games in Algiers in 2007 in the long jump, but was eliminated in qualifying. At the 2007 World Athletics Championships in Osaka , she failed as a forward seventh in 12.44 s. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing , Tiyana only took part in the 100-meter run . In a personal best of 12.25 s she was eliminated as seventh of her preliminary run. At the World Athletics Championships in Berlin in 2009, she increased her personal best to 12.22 s, but failed again in qualifying as sixth of her preliminary run.
