The Einöde Faun is a forester's house belonging to the municipality of Esselbach in the Lower Franconian district of Main-Spessart .
geography
Faun is located in the Wachengrund in the Spessart , on the edge of the Fürstlich Löwensteinschen Park , where the Heinrichsbach flows into the Wachenbach . The Alte Wachenmühle is located in the southwest and the Neue Wachenmühle in the northeast .
history
The name Faun goes back to Faunus , the ancient Italian god of the forest.
The forester's house Faun was built in 1817 as part of the fence construction for the Löwenstein Wildlife Park . From the beginning it belonged to the Esselbach community, founded in 1818. Today Faun serves as the forestry department for the princely Löwenstein family of foresters.
