Federigo Fiorillo

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Federigo Fiorillo (baptized June 1, 1755 in Braunschweig , † 1823 probably in London ) was a German composer of Italian origin, mandolin , violin and viola player .

Live and act

Federigo Fiorillo was the third son of Ignazio Fiorillo , the Naples- born court music director in Brunswick Palace under Duke Karl I.

Originally Fiorillo was a mandolin virtuoso, it was not until 1777 that he performed for the first time as a violinist in Saint Petersburg . In the years 1780 and 1781 he performed several times as a mandolin soloist and violinist in Poland. From 1782 to 1784 Fiorillo was Kapellmeister at the newly founded German theater in Riga . In 1785 he returned to Germany, but immediately accepted an engagement in Paris , where shortly after his arrival he appeared for the first time with a concert symphony at the Concert Spirituel . Around 1790 he was committed to London . Public appearances are documented there until around 1800.

In 1823, Fiorillo traveled seriously ill to Paris again to undergo an operation. The place and time of his death are unknown; but according to his friend and publisher Jean-Georges Sieber , he probably died in London in 1823.
