Felice Picano

Felice Picano (born February 22, 1944 in New York City ) is an American writer and publisher .

Life

Picano was born in New York in 1944. He founded SeaHorse Press in 1977 and, in 1981, the Gay Presses of New York together with Terry Helbing and Larry Mitchell . Together with Andrew Holleran , Robert Ferro , Edmund White , George Whitmore , Michael Grumley and Christopher Cox , he founded the literary circle The Violet Quill in New York in 1980 .

He started out writing short stories for various magazines such as Mandate and The Advocate . For his novel Like People in History (German: This one friendship ) he won the Ferro-Grumley Award and for a short story the PEN Syndicated Fiction Award . Picano was a finalist for the Ernest Hemingway Award and was nominated four times for the Lambda Literary Awards . Picano lives in West Hollywood , California .
