Felipe de la Morena y Calvet
Felipe de la Morena y Calvet (born October 22, 1927 in Madrid ) is a Spanish diplomat .
Life
He studied law and graduated from the Escuela Diplomática on June 8, 1956. In 1971 Morena headed the Eastern European Department of the Foreign Ministry under Gregorio López-Bravo .
From February 9, 1974 to July 21, 1975, Morena was employed in the Ministry of Planning as Director del Gabinete Técnico.
On July 10, 1978, he became the Spanish ambassador to Ye Jianying in Beijing. On September 24, 1982 he became Director General for the Ibero America Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under José Pedro Pérez-Llorca . In April 1983 he became ambassador to Hafiz al-Assad in Damascus, Syria.
From July 28, 1983 to February 26, 1987 he was ambassador to Spyros Kyprianou , based in Damascus.
Until 1990 Morena was ambassador to Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali in Tunis, Tunisia .
On October 22, 1992, Morena was retired. He remained the permanent representative of Spain to the Western European Union .
In October 1996 he was one of the administrators of the Urbanización La Zagaleta Sociedad Limitada near Málaga . In 2001 he was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his services to UK-Spanish culture.
