Felix Martin Furtwängler (born August 12, 1954 in Karlsruhe ) is a German painter , graphic artist and book artist .

Life

After studying advertising graphics at the Alsterdamm Art School in Hamburg in 1972, Furtwängler moved to the Berlin University of the Arts , where he attended the School for Craft Art and Fashion in 1973/74, the Product Design course in 1975/76 and free painting and painting from 1977 to 1982 Studied graphics. In 1982 he was a master student with Gerhart Bergmann . In 1987 he received the Karl Hofer Scholarship , but broke it off.

He lives in Dietratried / Allgäu and in Berlin .

Since 1975 prints have been created in the workshops of the Berlin university. In that year he published his first hand press print together with typesetter Siegfried Schäfer . Since then, a large number of artist books and book objects have been produced. Furtwängler works with his own texts and uses literary texts as the starting point for his artist books , which are more about a symbiosis of text and image than about the classic illustrated book .

In addition, he works as a freelance graphic artist in all techniques ( wood and linocut , screen printing and, above all, every variant of etching ), who prefers to work in cycles and as a painter. His largest painting is the ceiling painting in the Martin Luther Church in Edemissen .
