Felix Himpel , from 1873 by Himpel , (born February 28, 1821 in Ravensburg , † February 18, 1890 in Tübingen ) was a German Catholic theologian as well as professor and rector at the University of Tübingen .

Life

Felix Himpel studied philosophy and Catholic theology in Tübingen from 1840 to 1844 and was ordained a priest on September 4, 1845. On August 6, 1847, he became the prefectural administrator in Rottenburg am Neckar . From May 12, 1849 he was high school professor and chairman of the Konvikt in Ehingen (Danube) , from September 8, 1857 full professor for the Old Testament and the oriental languages ​​at the University of Tübingen, teaching in particular the Armenian language . In 1871/72 he was rector of the University of Tübingen. His portrait hangs in the professors' gallery in Tübingen .

Awards

In 1873 Felix von Himpel was awarded the Knight's Cross First Class of the Order of the Württemberg Crown , which was associated with the personal title of nobility ( ennoblement ).
