Felix Rienth

Felix Rienth (born June 24, 1970 in Basel ) is a Swiss concert singer ( tenor ).

Life

Felix Rienth received his first vocal training as a boy soprano in the Knabenkantorei Basel and made his debut as the first boy in Mozart's Magic Flute at the Basel Theater under Armin Jordan . After graduating from high school, he began studying German and Hispanic studies at the University of Basel before turning entirely to singing. He completed his vocal studies with Heidi Wölnerhanssen in Basel, which he completed with an opera diploma at the Swiss Opera Studio of the Bern University of Music . As a prizewinner of the Lucerne “Foundation for Young Musical Talents” he gave an aria concert with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra. The tenor sings the great oratorios in Switzerland and throughout Europe. He was invited to the Cologne Philharmonic , the Mozarteum Hall Salzburg, the Graz Stefaniensaal , Düsseldorf, Brussels, Munich, Palma de Mallorca and the major concert halls in Switzerland ( Victoria Hall Geneva, Tonhalle Zurich , Stadtcasino Basel ). He sang as a guest at the major festivals in Ambronay, Paris, Ghent, Lisbon, Granada, at the Expo 2008 in Zaragoza and has been recorded by various European broadcasters. He has worked with the leading Swiss choir conductors as well as early music specialists such as Eduardo Lopez Banzo , Gabriel Garrido and Frans Brüggen . In the presence of Her Majesty Queen of Belgium, Fabiola Mora y Aragón , he gave a Baroque recital at the Motril-Granada Festival (Spain) in 2008. Of his discography with a focus on early music, the recording of the solo cantatas by the Catalan Francesc Valls , which was awarded the Dutch “Prelude Classical Music Award 2007” as the best baroque CD of the year, deserves special mention. A recording of the tenor cantatas by Johann Christoph Pepusch with the baroque ensemble La Tempesta Basel was released for the Handel year 2009 . In 2011 the recital CD Tonos humanos followed with Spanish baroque songs by José Marín . His recording of Telemann's tenor cantatas from the Harmonische Gottesdienst with La Tempesta Basel was selected as a “reference recording ” in 2014 and among the “10 best CDs of the month” in April 2014 by the Spanish magazine RITMO.

Felix Rienth is married to the recorder player Muriel Rochat Rienth and lives in Basel.
