Felix Stilz

Felix Stilz (born December 30, 1928 in Gemünden , Hunsrück; † October 3, 2017 in Freiburg ) was a German tax advisor who was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class , for his voluntary work, including in the Freiburg Münsterbauverein and the “Freiburg Münster Foundation” and "for services to the Catholic Church" was awarded the command of the New Year's Eve .

Life

Stilz grew up in a large family in simple circumstances. At the suggestion of the village priest, who had recognized the boy's talent, he came to an uncle in Freiburg / Br., Where he attended the Friedrich-Gymnasium . This was followed by a degree in economics and business administration. There he became a member of the Catholic student association Unitas in Freiburg, of which he is still a member today. In November 1957, he submitted his doctoral thesis to the law and political science faculty of the University of Freiburg . In 1955 he had already opened a tax office, which he ran together with his wife Ruth from the late 1950s.

In addition to his professional activity, Stilz campaigned for the structural preservation of the Freiburg Minster . From the mid-1980s to mid-2007 he was treasurer of the Freiburg Minster Association . In 2000 he was a co-founder of the Freiburg Münster Foundation (since 2018 Freiburg Münster Foundation ), which he also chaired in the early years. In 2006 he founded the Felix and Ruth Stilz Foundation , which is assigned to the Münster Foundation , and endowed it with considerable foundation assets.

In 1985 he was also a founding member of the Procaritate e. V. , which especially takes care of homeless people. In addition, Stilz was involved in the board of the Chamber of Tax Advisors and as a member of the examination committee for tax advisors at the Ministry of Finance in Baden-Württemberg . He was also a member of the Advisory Board of the University of Freiburg, the Advisory Board of the “Association of Friends of the University of Freiburg” and the “ Rotary Club Freiburg”.
