Joachim Lederer

Joachim Lederer (born August 28, 1808 in Prague , † July 31, 1876 in Dresden ) was an Austrian writer of Bohemian origin, who also became known under the pseudonym Felix Wagner .

Life

Lederer came from an old merchant family. After finishing school, he began studying medicine at the University of Prague , but later switched to law . He finished his studies in 1839 with his doctorate as Dr. jur.

Lederer settled in Prague as a lawyer , but soon gave up his law firm in favor of writing. After the Whitsun uprising in Prague in 1848, Lederer left Prague and settled in Dresden. He lived there as a freelance writer until his death.

Joachim Lederer wrote mainly humorous works; mostly under the pseudonym Felix Wagner . Contemporary literary criticism even saw him as an - albeit moderate - Aloys Blumauer . Lederer's works were u. a. brought to the stage from the Burgtheater .
