Feodossi Karpovich Vanin

Feodossi Karpowitsch Wanin ( Russian Феодосий Карпович Ванин , English transcription Feodosiy Vanin; born February 25, 1914 in Baturinskaja , Krasnodar region ; † 2009 ) was a Soviet long-distance runner .

At the European Athletics Championships in Oslo in 1946 , he was fifth over 10,000 m .

In 1947 he was runner-up in the Soviet marathon championships , and in 1948 he took that title in 2:31:55 hours, the third fastest time of the year.

In 1950 he was again Soviet champion with the world best time of 2:29:10 h and won bronze at the European Championship marathon in Brussels in 2:33:47 h.

In 1952 he came in 27th place in the Helsinki Olympic Games marathon in 2:38:22 h and was fifth in 2:27:29 h in the Soviet Championships.

He was three times Soviet champion over 5000 m (1943, 1946, 1947), seven times over 10.0000 m (1940, 1943–1945, 1947–1949) and twice in the marathon (1948, 1950).
