Ferdinand Falkson

Ferdinand Falkson (born August 20, 1820 in Königsberg (Prussia) , † August 31, 1900 there ) was a German doctor, writer and politician.

Life

Falkson studied medicine at the Albertus University in Königsberg and became a member of Hochhemia in 1839 . In 1842 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD . He was of Jewish origin and was baptized in 1845 . Since he was refused the marriage license, he went to England and married there in 1846. On his return to Konigsberg he was charged with breaking the law. The process dragged on for three years and was won by Falkson in 1849. His struggle for the recognition of interdenominational marriages caused a sensation in the Kingdom of Prussia , especially since he had campaigned for liberalism early on . From 1861 to 1867 he was chairman of the liberal craftsmen's association and city ​​councilor in Königsberg. He was a lifelong friend of Ferdinand Gregorovius . One son was Franz Falkson .
