Ferdinand Heuer (born April 24, 1815 , † April 6, 1882 in Grasdorf bei Laatzen ) was a German pedagogue , sexton and organist . As the author of numerous arithmetic books, he was also known as the “Rechen-Heuer” in the 20th century.
Life
Ferdinand Heuer was born at the beginning of the Kingdom of Hanover . From 1845 and beyond the founding of the German Empire until the year of his death in 1882, the schoolmaster worked as a teacher, sexton and organist in Grasdorf. In the village community, he was seen as a role model whose advice was sought. For example, he advised farmers from Grasdorf and the surrounding area on the question of "whether one should subscribe to shares in a sugar factory."
Ferdinand Heuer, who was publicly compared to arithmetic master Adam Riese , wrote at least 6 arithmetic books in the 19th century, some of which were "printed in dozens of editions" and were used throughout the country until the Weimar Republic .
