Grasdorf is a village in the city of Laatzen in the Hanover region in Lower Saxony .
history
Grasdorf was first mentioned in 1236 in a document from Bishop Konrad II. The name developed from Grafestorpe via Grafendorf to Grasdorf.
From the end of the 16th century until 1835, Grasdorf had around 60 farms unchanged. Then lands, forests and meadows were redistributed and the general conditions for the population improved.
On January 1, 1964, the communities of Grasdorf and Laatzen joined together voluntarily. The new municipality of Laatzen was granted city rights in 1968.

coat of arms
The draft emblem of grass village dates from that in Gadenstedt born and later in Hannover living heraldic and graphic artist Alfred Brecht , who has the coat of arms of Bantorf , Barrigsen , Egestorf has designed and many other villages in the district of Hannover. The approval of the coat of arms was granted on June 9, 1958 by the Lower Saxony Minister of the Interior .
Blazon : "In gold on a green Dreiberg coveredwith a silver wavy bar ,a green tuft of grass ." | |
Reasons for the coat of arms: The popular interpretation of the name “Gras-Dorf” and the location of the district on both sides of the Leine with the three elevations “Kronsberg”, “Döseckenberg” and “Liethberg” were decisive for the design of the coat of arms. |
