Ferdinand Weyhe

Wilhelm Ferdinand Weyhe (born November 6, 1795 in Magdeburg , † October 31, 1878 in Bonn ) was a German agricultural scientist . From 1851 to 1856 he was director of the agricultural college in Poppelsdorf near Bonn .

Live and act

Ferdinand Weyhe studied veterinary medicine and natural sciences at the University of Berlin in 1819 and 1820 and then worked for several years as a tenant in a domain in Saxony-Anhalt . As an autodidact, he supplemented his agricultural knowledge through extensive consulting activities in all parts of Germany and through extensive study trips to European countries. In 1846 he received the title of State Economics Council.

From 1851 to 1856, Weyhe was director of the agricultural college in Poppelsdorf near Bonn . He gave lectures on farm management , animal husbandry , agricultural technology and agriculture . Apart from a few reports on the cultivation of sugar beet , he hardly published anything.

He was a member of the Society of German Natural Scientists and Doctors . Weyhe had been a member of the Masonic lodge to the three hammers in Halberstadt since November 4, 1819 . On December 6, 1857, he joined the Friedrich Wilhelm Lodge of the Iron Cross as a founding member of the Friedrich Wilhelm Lodge, which was then re-established in Bonn .
