Ferdinand Freiherr Rosenzweig von Drauwehr (born July 11, 1812 in Eisenstadt , † September 4, 1892 ) was an Austrian field warrior .

Life

Ferdinand von Rosenzweig came from a baronial family with a military tradition. He attended normal school in Klagenfurt . After completing his training at the Graz Cadet Institute , he joined the Austrian volunteer corps on October 28, 1835 . After several military missions, Rosenzweig was promoted to lieutenant colonel and in this function belonged to the 77th regiment. After Maximilian I , the brother of the Austrian Emperor I. Franz Joseph , in Mexico the power came, moved Rosenzweig to Mexico about, serving from July 20, 1864 the emperor in the 16th Regiment of the Austrian volunteer corps in Mexico as a Major . Here he married the Hungarian princess Catarina Radzivil de Atavia, lady-in-waiting at the Mexican imperial court; their daughter Emanuela was born on August 30, 1866.

After Maximilian's reign ended, Rosenzweig returned to Austria, where he again served in the Austrian army. On June 3, 1865 he was promoted to major general and on April 30, 1870 to field marshal lieutenant. In the German War of 1866 he led a brigade in the VI. Corps under General Ramming and took part in the Battle of Nachod on June 27 and the Battle of Königgrätz on July 3 . On April 14, 1879 Effective May 1, he was finally François I with the title and character promoted to the post of Feldzeugmeister.
