Ferdinand Franz Karl Wilhelm von Schorlemer (born December 3, 1870 in Lippstadt , † July 21, 1935 in Marquartstein ) was a Prussian district administrator .

Life

Origin and family

Ferdinand von Schorlemer came from the Westphalian noble family Schorlemer . His father was Wilhelm von Schorlemer (district administrator of the Lippstadt district), his mother Marie Luise Wilhelmine Charlotte Maximiliane von Elmendorff . His uncle Burghard was a politician and founder of the Westphalian Farmers' Association . His cousin Friedrich was district administrator for the Ahaus district.

On December 18, 1902, Ferdinand married Margarete Cosack (née Mentzelsfelde) in Lippstadt.

Professional background

After graduating from high school in Vechta in 1889, he studied law at the Universities of Lausanne and Berlin and became a trainee lawyer at the Higher Regional Court in Kiel on December 16, 1896 . He switched to administration and in 1899 worked as a trainee lawyer for the Arnsberg government . Appointed government assessor in 1902 , he was referred to the Magdeburg Police Headquarters. After stints at the Kiel Police Department and the Hanover government , Schorlemer was entrusted with the provisional administration of the Warburg District Office on June 18, 1906, and on March 13, 1907, he was finally appointed District Administrator of the Warburg District. He remained in this office until September 30, 1919. His main concern was agriculture. Because of his friendly nature he gained the esteem of the local population. The new district building was built during his tenure. In 1916/1917 he traveled as a delegate of the DRK with relief supplies to the Daugava area on the Eastern Front.

He switched to the state tax administration and was most recently the state tax office director (department head of property and transport taxes). For health reasons, Schorlemer had to go into early retirement on October 31, 1933.

Schorlemer was a member of the Center Party and from 1918 to 1919 a member of the Westphalian Provincial Parliament .
