Baron Wilhelm Rudolf Julius von Schorlemer (born October 13, 1821 at Herringhausen Castle near Lippstadt , † April 19, 1884 in Gut Vehr near Quakenbrück ) was a Prussian officer , district administrator and center party politician .

Life

Wilhelm came from the Westphalian noble family von Schorlemer . His father was the manor owner and politician Friedrich Wilhelm von Schorlemer (1786–1849), his mother Josephine (born von Pelden called von Cloudt) at Lauersfort Castle (1788–1863). A younger brother was the politician Burghard Freiherr von Schorlemer-Alst (1825–1895).

Schorlemer joined the Prussian Army in 1838 as a porter ensign and served in various cavalry units. In 1857 he was dismissed with the rank of Rittmeister .

As early as 1856 he received ministerial permission for probationary service with the district government in Arnsberg . Since 1857 Schorlemer has been a district administrator in the Lippstadt district . At the age of 40, he married the 23-year-old Marie Luise Wilhelmine Charlotte Maximiliane von Elmendorff (born September 13, 1838, † July 7, 1914) in Oyte on September 24, 1861 , the daughter of an Oldenburg chamberlain. The son Ferdinand , who was the district administrator of the Warburg district, emerged from the marriage .

In connection with the Kulturkampf , he applied for dismissal from civil service in 1875.

As a member of the Center Party, Schorlemer was politically active in many ways. Between 1871 and 1873 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament for Westphalia . He was a member of the Reichstag from 1880 to 1884. He also represented the constituency of Moers in the Prussian House of Representatives from 1879 to 1882 . From then until his death he was a representative of the constituency Lippstadt - Arnsberg - Brilon . He also belonged to the state parliament in Oldenburg for a time.

In addition, Schorlemer sat on the board of numerous agricultural associations.
