Friedrich von Schorlemer-Alst
Friedrich Antonius Aloysius Mamertus Hubertus Maria Freiherr von Schorlemer-Alst (born March 11, 1854 at Haus Alst ; † February 23, 1934 in Ahaus ) was a Prussian district administrator in the Ahaus district from 1896 to 1920.
Life
Origin and family
Friedrich von Schorlemer-Alst came from the old Westphalian noble family Schorlemer , which was mentioned in a document as early as the 13th century and was raised to the baron status in 1844 . His parents were Burghard von Schorlemer-Alst and Anna Freiin von Imbsen, widowed Countess Droste zu Vischering. His grandparents were Friedrich Wilhelm von Schorlemer and Josephine von Pelden called von Cloudt. His younger brother Clemens was the Prussian Minister of Agriculture. His uncle Wilhelm was a district administrator in the Lippstadt district . His son Ferdinand was the district administrator of the Warburg district . On April 8, 1880, in Münster, he married Wilhelmine von Hartmann, a daughter of Hugo von Hartmann, who in 1881 acquired the Horst estate near Ahaus. There were no children from the marriage. He bought the Sonderhaus estate in Ahaus - Wilhelm Scheffer had previously lived here - and moved into it with his wife on July 1, 1880.
Professional background
Friedrich received private tuition in his parents' house until he was 18, attended grammar school in Rheine for two years and graduated from high school on March 24, 1874. He then studied at the Academy Münster philosophy and at the universities of Würzburg and Göttingen Jura . In July 1878 he passed the examination as a trainee lawyer at the Court of Appeal in Cologne and in mid-September got a job at the Burgsteinfurt district court.
On March 19, 1896, the district council of Ahaus decided unanimously to "propose the former commissary district administrator, baron von Schorlemer-Alst, for appointment as district administrator of the Ahaus district". On June 8, 1896, he was definitely the district administrator of the Ahaus district. Before assuming this office, he was involved in managing several large estates. He combined his agricultural interests with numerous long trips abroad (including Spain, Italy, England, France, Austria, Hungary and Russia). Because of reaching the age limit, von Schorlemer-Alst was dismissed from civil service on August 3, 1920.
Friedrich von Schorlemer-Alst was a member of the Westphalian provincial parliament .
