Wilhelm Giesebert Hermann Riedesel Freiherr von und zu Eisenbach (born March 10, 1850 in Darmstadt ; † November 6, 1918 ) was a German manor owner, administrative and court official.

Life

Wilhelm Riedesel zu Eisenbach initially received home tuition and attended the Hersfeld grammar school from 1863 and the Darmstadt grammar school from 1866, where he passed the Abitur on September 20, 1869. He studied law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . In 1869 he became a member and in the winter semester 1873/74 honorary member of the Corps Saxonia Göttingen . On July 4, 1874, he passed the first state examination at the Kassel Court of Appeal .

In 1870/1871 he did military service as a one-year volunteer and took part in the Franco-German War with the Grand Ducal Hessian body dragoons. In 1871 he became a secondary lieutenant in the reserve and in 1881 he became a prime lieutenant in the Landwehr cavalry.

After the legal trainee and assessor exams (which he passed on January 4, 1880 in Berlin), he entered the Prussian civil service as a government assessor. In 1881 he became provisional district administrator for the Ahaus district . In 1882 he changed first temporarily and from 1883 finally as district administrator in the district of Gelnhausen .

Wilhelm Riedesel Eisenbach was in 1894 for a period of twelve years to the governor of the provincial federation of the Prussian province of Hesse-Nassau selected (in personal union also governor of the district branch of the district of Kassel). In 1906 he was re-elected for a further twelve years.

Riedesel sat from 1886 to 1893 and 1903 as a member of the constituency of Kassel 13 in the Prussian House of Representatives , from 1886 to 1893 as a member of the faction of the Conservative Party and in 1903 of the Free Conservative Party . From 1882 to 1884 he was a member of the Hessian Communal Parliament and the Provincial Parliament of the Hesse-Nassau Province . He was royal chamberlain , vice-marshal of the knighthood of Old Hessen and co-owner of the Eisenbach and Ludwigseck Fideikommisses .

Wilhelm Riedesel zu Eisenbach was the son of Ludwig Riedesel zu Eisenbach (1806-1858) and his wife Wilhelmine, nee. Countess of Otting-Fünfstetten (1811–1894). Ludwig Riedesel zu Eisenbach was his brother. Since 1886 he was married to Martha Freiin von dem Bussche-Ippenburg called von Kessel, the daughter of Wilhelm von dem Bussche-Ippenburg . The couple had two daughters:

  • Hertha Wilhelmine Elisabeth Therese (born July 17, 1887)
  • Hildegard Anna Rose (born March 11, 1889 - † 1972)
