Guido von Matuschka-Greiffenclau

Guido Maria Graf von Matuschka, Baron von Greiffenclau, Baron von Toppolczan and Spaetgen, called Count Matuschka-Greiffenclau (born May 7, 1847 in Hirschberg ; † September 11, 1924 at Schloss Vollrads ) was a German administrative officer, court official and landowner.

Life

Guido von Matuschka-Greiffenclau was born the son of the winery owner and member of parliament Hugo Graf von Matuschka-Greiffenclau and Sophie Reichsfreiin von Greiffenclau-Vollrads . He studied law and camera studies at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Berlin . In 1868 he became a member of the Corps Borussia Bonn . After his legal clerkship, he was an assessor at the Berlin City Court and a government assessor in Kassel. He was bailiff of the Wiesbaden district , 1878/79 administrator of the district office in the Prussian district of Gelnhausen (deputy of the absent district administrator) and from 1879 to 1886 initially district administrator of the Main district and after the reorganization of the districts in the province of Hessen-Nassau from April 1, 1886 to 1894 District Administrator of the Wiesbaden district . From 1894 to 1898 he was first police director and finally police chief of Aachen . During his time in Aachen, Count Matuschka lived in the Villa Cassalette and was a member of Club Aachener Casino . He then went into early retirement and spent his twilight years on his vineyard in the Rheingau.

Von Matuschka-Greiffenclau was Fideikommiss owner of the Vollrads estate and royal chamberlain . In the Franco-Prussian War , in which he took part as a reserve lieutenant, he was wounded near St. Quentin . He was married to Klara Freiin von Oppenheim (1870–1959), daughter of the banker Albert von Oppenheim . They had two sons and two daughters, including the later Hessian politician Richard Graf Matuschka-Greiffenclau .
