Jean-Jacques Darier

Jean-Jacques Darier (born June 25, 1803 in Le Petit-Saconnex , † November 10, 1885 in Plainpalais ) was a Swiss politician and judge . From 1854 to 1857 he was a member of the National Council.

biography

The son of an enamel painter studied humanities at the Geneva Academy from 1819 . From 1829 Darier worked as a language teacher in Geneva , and from 1835 to 1840 also as a businessman . In the years 1847/48 he headed the letter post of the Canton of Geneva . From 1851 he worked at the welfare fund (assistance mutuelle), from 1855 to 1861 as head of the department for direct contributions and from 1871 as an accountant.

Darier represented radical liberal views at the cantonal level and was elected to the Grand Council in 1850 , where he was a member of the Petitions Commission. He ran successfully in the National Council elections in 1854 . In the national parliament he was one of the moderate liberals, three years later he clearly missed re-election. In 1858 he also resigned as a councilor.
