Ernst von Westhoven

Ernst von Westhoven (born September 17, 1795 in Bayreuth , † March 19, 1833 in Ahaus ) was a German politician .

Life

Ernst von Westhoven came from a Westphalian civil servant and military family who had been raised to imperial nobility in 1712. His father was Friedrich von Westhoven and his mother was Baron von Vittinghoff called Schell . He studied law and camera science in Erlangen and Halle . During his studies in 1815 he became a member of the Teutonia Halle fraternity . From 1818 to 1822 he was employed by the government in Münster as a government trainee and in this function was appointed acting mayor in Sendenhorst. In March 1822 he was assigned to the provisional district administrator Clemens von Bönningshausen first as an assistant, then in May as a representative. On November 2, 1823, he took over the provisional administration of the Ahaus district office after his predecessor Clemens Mersmann had moved to Coesfeld at his own request. In 1826 he passed the district examination with "good", then on March 12, 1827 he was appointed as the district administrator of the Ahaus district. He held this office until his death. On May 25, 1827, he married Charlotte von Basse, daughter of the district administrator in Borken, Karl von Basse . The son Karl (consistorial president in the province of Westphalia ) emerged from the marriage.
