Dsjanis Mihal ( Belarusian Дзяніс Мігаль ; born October 5, 1985 in Minsk ) is a Belarusian rower .

Athletic career

Dsjanis Mihal finished eighth in a double scull at the Junior World Championships in 2002, and in 2003 he came fourth in a double scull . In 2004 he received the silver medal in the double scull at the U23 World Championships , in 2005 he won the title in the double scull and in 2006 and 2007 in the double scull together with Stanislau Shtscharbatschenja . In 2006, Mihal took part in the four-four world championships in the adult class and took eleventh place. At the 2007 World Championships in Munich , Mihal and Shtscharbatschenja achieved fifth place in the double scull. At the end of the 2007 season, the two took with themValery Rodevich and Andrej Pljaschkou took part in the European Championships in double fours and won the bronze medal. In 2008 Mihal and Shtscharbatschenja rowed in all three World Cup regattas in double sculls with ninth place as the best result. At the highlight of the season, the 2008 Olympic Games , they won the B final and came seventh overall. They finished ninth at the European Championships . In 2009 Dsjanis Mihal competed in the three World Cup regattas in three different boat classes, at the 2009 World Championships he took 14th place in double sculls with Shcharbatschenja. At the end of the season, Rodewitsch, Kirill Lemeschkewitsch , Shtscharbatschenja and Mihal won silver in the double fours at the European Championships .

After a less than successful season in 2010, Mihal switched from scull rowing to oar rowing . After a ninth place in the four without a helmsman at the 2011 World Championships , Wadsim Lyalin, Dzjanis Mihal, Stanislau Shtscharbatschenja and Alexander Kosubowski won the silver medal behind the Greeks at the European Championships . In the 2012 Olympic year, the four-man without a helmsman reached the A-final in all three World Cup regattas , while the Belarusians won the B-final at the Olympic Games in Eton and thus finished seventh. At the end of the season, the foursome reached fifth place at the European Championships . At the European Championships in 2013 Mihal rowed to fifth place with his eighth , and at the World Championships he came seventh with the four-man without a helmsman. In 2014, Mihal only came eighth in the World Cup and reached eleventh place at the World Championships . In 2015 he returned to the four without a helmsman. After bronze at the European Championships , eighth place at the World Championships meant direct Olympic qualification for 2016. Wadsim Ljalin, Dsjanis Mihal, Mikalaj Scharlap and Ihar Paschewitsch started the Olympic year with second place behind the British foursome at the European Championships . At the 2016 Olympic Games , the Belarusian four-man finished ninth.
