Vadzim Lyalin
Vadsim Mikalajewitsch Lyalin ( Belarusian Вадзім Мікалаевіч Лялін ; born November 15, 1982 in Mihaljowo , Mahiljouskaja Woblasz ) is a Belarusian rower .
Athletic career
Wadsim Ljalin took fourth place without a helmsman at the Junior World Championships in 2000. In 2001, he took part in the rowing World Cup for the first time in the same boat class and finished ninth at the U23 World Championships . In 2002, Ljalin switched to the four without a helmsman and rowed to 15th place at the world championships . In 2004 he won the bronze medal at the U23 World Championships with the Polish eighth .
In 2005, the Belarusian eighth finished tenth at the World Championships in the adult class. After the thirteenth place for the eighth at the 2006 World Championships , the boat reached twelfth place at the 2007 World Championships in Munich , Ljalin also competed in Munich with the four without a helmsman and came eleventh in this boat class. At the end of the 2007 season, Ljalin won the bronze medal at the European Championships with the Belarusian eighth . In 2008, Ljalin focused on the four without a helmsman, with whom he finished twelfth at the 2008 Olympic Games and was third at the European Championships at the end of the season .
In 2009, the Belarusian foursome finished sixth at both the World Championships and the European Championships . In 2010 Wadsim Ljalin competed in the World Cup in a four-man, at the European Championships 2010 he started with Alexander Kosubowski and Piotr Piatrynich in a two-man with helmsman and won his first international title here. In 2011 he returned to the quad back, finishing in ninth place at the World Championships , at the European Championships won Wadsim Lyalin, Dsjanis Mihal , Stanislau Schtscharbatschenja and Alexander Kosubowski the silver medal behind the Greeks. In the 2012 Olympic year, the four-man without a helmsman reached the A-final in all three World Cup regattas , while the Belarusians won the B-final at the Olympic Games in Eton and thus finished seventh. At the European Championships in 2013 , Ljalin rowed eighth to fifth place, at the World Championships he came seventh with the four-man without a helmsman. In 2014, Ljalin only started eighth and reached sixth place at the European Championships and eleventh place at the World Championships . In 2015 he returned to the four without a helmsman. After bronze at the European Championships , eighth place at the World Championships meant direct Olympic qualification for 2016. Wadsim Ljalin, Dsjanis Mihal, Mikalaj Scharlap and Ihar Paschewitsch started the Olympic year with second place behind the British foursome at the European Championships . At the 2016 Olympic Games , the Belarusian four-man finished ninth.
