Ferenc Jeromos Keszthelyi OCist (born March 16, 1928 in Eger , Hungary , † December 6, 2010 in Vác ) was a Hungarian Catholic religious and bishop of Vác .

Life

Ferenc Keszthelyi occurred on August 29, 1946, the Congregation of the Cistercians in. He studied theology from 1946 to 1950 at the order's own university. He made Solemn Vows on August 23, 1950 . After the dissolution of the religious orders he graduated from 1950 to 1951 his studies at the seminary in Székesfehérvár from and received on April 2, 1951, the priestly ordination .

Keszthelyi was chaplain in Nagytétény from 1951 to 1953 , in Budafok from 1953 to 1960 and from 1960 to 1962 in Remetekertváros in the 2nd district of Budapest . In Tárnokliget he was vicar from 1962 to 1965 and from 1965 parish administrator and pastor from 1967. In 1974 he moved to the parish in Nagytétény.

Pope John Paul II appointed Keszthelyi Bishop of Vác in 1992. He was ordained bishop on March 21, 1992 by the Archbishop of Esztergom , Cardinal László Paskai OFM; Co- consecrators were István Seregély , Archbishop of Eger , and Izidor István Marosi , Former Bishop of Vác.

Ferenc Keszthelyi was the Provincial of the Cistercians in Hungary. In 2003, Pope John Paul II granted his petition for retirement.
