Fernando Escamilla Marquez

Fernando José Escamilla Márquez ( 1939 - March 6, 2007 ) was a Mexican ambassador .

Life

Fernando Escamilla Márquez was a career diplomat at the embassies in Havana , Buenos Aires , Stockholm and Lima . On July 19, 1979, Managua was occupied by the FSLN and six days later, on July 23, 1973, Márquez was appointed Chargé d'affaires in Nicaragua . Subsequently, during his time as Chargé d'affaires in El Salvador from September 20, 1983 to October 10, 1985, the FMLN was recognized by the Mexican government as a party to the conflict. During his activity as chargé d'affaires in the Soviet Unionfrom June 23, 1988 to February 15, 1992 the Soviet Union was dissolved into individual states. With his office in Tehran from August 7, 1995 to January 12, 1999, he was also accredited as ambassador to the governments of Pakistan and Afghanistan .

In the Secretariat for External Relations he headed the Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania department. From 1999 he was involved in the digitization of the SRE archive and worked for the magazine “Enlace”.
