Fernando Monje

Fernando Monje Vicario (born March 7, 1993 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish racing car driver .

Career

Monje began his motorsport career in karting in 2005 , where he was active until 2008. In 2009 he made his debut in the Formul'Academy Euro Series in formula racing . He was tenth overall. He also made guest starts in the Catalan monoposto championship and took part in touring car racing in some races of the Spanish SEAT Leon Supercopa .

In 2010 Monje switched to the European F3 Open . He started for De Villota Motorsport and finished the season in sixth place in the drivers' championship. In 2011 Monje stayed in the European F3 Open and competed for Drivex . A fifth position was his best result and he finished the season in 15th place overall. He also took part in a long-distance race.

In 2012 Monje left formula racing and switched to touring car racing. He should start for SUNRED Engineering in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). Since there were not enough current engines for the SEAT León , it initially started with a SUNRED 1.6T engine and only competed in one event. In addition, Monje took part in the European Touring Car Cup (ETC-Cup) for SUNRED . He won six out of eight races and won the Super 2000 ranking. In 2013 Monje finally got a cockpit in the WTCC again. For Campos Racing he took part in eleven of twelve events. As in the previous year, Monje finished the season in 24th place overall.

In 2014 Monje again found no permanent cockpit. He drove two races each in the Super GT and GTS classes of the International GT Open. In 2015 Monje took part in three TCR International Series events for Campos Racing. He achieved a third place.
